15Days from Casablanca to Merzouga Desert Tour

Overview of the Merzouga desert tour from Casablanca

Merzouga desert tour is a journey started from Casablanca. We will meet you at the airport of Casablance then we take you to the hotel. In the next day, you will depart to Fez crossing over the capital city Rabat. In Fes you will have a full day with an official local guide tour to visit the must-see sites and discover the old city. From here, you drive to Moulay Driss where you will visit the Volubilis near the city of Meknes. Later, via the Midel Atlas road passing by Midelt, Ziz Valley and Erfoud, you will reach Merzouga. Here, you enjoy the landscape of desert and experience lot of activities such as camel trekking. The next day, you head to the village of Rissani and passing by Todgha gorges. Then, you will spend some time in Dades Valley before you go to Ouarzazate (the African Hollywood) where you will visit the Ait Benhaddou kasbah and Taroudant in the region. Also, you will go to Agadir the paradise city and reach the city of Essaouira where you will visit the famous Mogadore and spend the whole day there exploring its sightseeing. Another full day will be dedicated to Marrakech and its must-see sites. Finally, our Marrakech desert tour will end in Casablanca.

Day 1 : Casablanca Med V airport – Transfer to (Hotel)

When arrived at the international airport of Mohamed V at Casablanca, our driver will be on your demand to transfer you to the hotel you will be staying at. After showering and relaxing, our staff will join you at dinner so they can provide you with all the necessary  information about the trip.

Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Fes

Our wonderful trip starts from your accommodation at Casablanca. Our first location will be the majestic mosque of Hassan II, it is the largest mosque in africa, and the fifth largest in the world. With its world’s tallest minaret at 210 meters,topped by a laser; a light which is directed towards Mecca. The mosque stands on a promontory looking out to the Atlantic ocean; Where prayers can look over the sea. With our guide we will make sure to show you this Moroccan master piece. Afterwards, we will drive towards the capital city, and one of Morocco’s four imperial cities “Rabat”; here you will explore the magnificent “Hassan tower” , an incomplete minaret that was supposed to be the tallest in the world. Then you will visit the sacred mausoleum of Mohamed V, where the king’s father and grand-father are buried. Moving on to the impressive ruins of Chellah, a medieval fortified Muslim necropolis on the south side of the Bou Regarg estuary, it was a site of an ancient Roman colony in the province of Mauretania Tingitana. Also we will take you to visit the the interesting Mechouar of the Royal Palace. Thereupon, Late in the afternoon, we will arrive at the Morocco’s cultural city “Fes”, where you will be spending the night at a hotel/riad, with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 3 : Fes (Sightseeing Tour with your tour guide, Fes Medina)

In toaday’s program, we will take you in an entertaining tour around the historical city of Fes, starting with the medieval alleys of the old medina, with their old unique architecture. Strolling around the odorous old markets, till we reach the the majestic gate of the Royale palace. Also we will visit a master-piece, the impressive mosque and one of the oldest unversities in the world “El Quaraouine”. Thereupon you will get the opportunity to visit the Zaouia of Moulay Driss II,  it is dedicated to and contains the tomb of Idriss II, who ruled Morocco from 807 to 828 and is considered the main founder of the city of Fes and of the first Moroccan Islamic state. Lunch will be served at a traditional restaurant in the ancient medina. Afterwards we will resume our tour by visiting the funduq Al Najjarin, is a funduq in Fes el Bali, the old medina quarter. The funduq is situated in the heart of the medina, at Al-Najjarin square, which is notable for the Nejjarin fountain, an attached saqqaya or traditional fountain for caravans. We also going to visit the Dar Btha, or Qsar El Batha, a formed royal palace in the city of Fes. The palace was commissioned by the Alaouite Sultan Hassan I, and his successor Abdelaziz in the 19th century. The palace now is a museum dedicated for arts and crafts. Eventually we will conclude the day from the Marinid tombs the perfect lookout point over the historical city of Fes. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Fes – Moulay Driss- Volubilis – Meknes

 

After a delicious breakfast at the beautiful city of Fes, we will resume our  trip towards the cultural and historical cit of “Fes”. On the way we will stop by the site of Roman ruins “Volubilis” a place from the 25 BC , where you will enjoy a back in time tour with our guide around this interesting place. Thereupon , we will continue towards the imperial city of “Meknes” , where you will visit the great gate of “Mansour” , and enjoy lunch in front of the charming plaza of “Lehdim”. After lunch you will have a free program to explore this magnificent city with our guide. Dinner and overnight at a riad/hotel.

Day 5: Meknes – Midelt – Ziz valley – Erfoud – Merzouga 

In the morning you will enjoy your breakfast at the hotel/riad, then we are going to resume our entertaining trip, and today we will draw our way towards the south of Morocco; crossing the breath-taking middle Atlas mountains. Passing by the beautiful tiny city of Ifrane; an influence by the the European architecture, traversing the impressive Cedar forests that covers the Atlasic city of Azrou. Till we reach the charming village of Zaida; a small town in the Midelt province, where you will savor  a traditional lunch. Thereupon we will continue crossing the interesting Atlas mountains, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the agricultural city of Midelt. Reaching the oasis town “Erfoud”, where the rocky saharian nature of Tafilalt will start to glow. Eventually, we will arrive at the charming town of Merzouga, a small Moroccan town in the Sahara desert, that is known as the gateway to Erg Chebbi’s dunes. Here you will spend the night at a local hotel near the dunes, with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 6: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi (Desert Exploration – Camel Trekking for sunset)

In today’s program, you will experience  a day life of an ancient traveler in the middle of he golden sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will ride camels that will carry out your baggage while you enjoy the beautiful moment through the noiseless calm dunes. Lunch will be prepared and served for you by our camel man. After spending a good time discovering the surroundings of Merzouga we will get back to the hotel where you will enjoy dinner, and overnight.

Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani –  Todra gorges

Early in the morning, our guide will wake you up so you don’t miss the uncanny sunrise in the middle of the Sahara, and enjoy a traditional breakfast while the sun shines up the golden sandy dunes and worms your skin. Afterwards we offer you a camel ride to discover more the area, before continuing our way towards the wonderful town of Tinghir, and stop by the miraculous Todgha gorges. Here you will enjoy a traditional lunch at a restaurant, then you will have the opportunity to hike among locals and share their daily life routine with them, and enjoy the special nature of the area. Dinner and overnight at the riad/hotel.

 

Day 8 : Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate

In the morning you will enjoy exploring the beautiful area of Dades with our guide, then we are going to resume our trip towards a ctiy nicknamed “ The Gate to the desert” Ouarzazate. On the way we will take you through  the breath-taking road of Boutghrar, to visit some Berber nomades that will welcome you with a glass of mint tea under their tents. After a quiet stay, we will resume towards Ouarzazate via the swooning Valley of Roses, a carpet of beautiful roses along the area. Crossing the fabulous kasbahs of Skoura and Kasbah of Amrhedil where you will have a guided tour . in the afternoon we will  reach Ouarzazate, where a traditional dinner will be served for you in the hotel/riad you will be staying at.

Day 9: Ouarzazate – Ait Benahddou – Taroudant


After breakfast in your Riad, we’ll head to Taroudant via Taznakht, visiting Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. Built during the beginning of the 20 th Century by T-hami El Glaoui -one of the last Berber chieftains -Ben Haddou Kasbah used to be one of his stops during his long travel from the sub-Saharan countries to Marrakech, and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. On to Taliouine, the capital of saffron in Morocco, you have the option to visit the Saffron co-operative. Next our  destination is going to be “Taroudant”, The town is known as the “Grandmother of Marrakesh” because it looks like a smaller Marrakesh with its surrounding ramparts, stopping at Taliouine to visit the saffron co-operative.

We will arrive to Taroudant at noon, where you will have the opportunity to see its ramparts and walk within the small alleys in the medina.

Day 10: Taroudant – Agadir – Essaouira

After breakfast, we Will resume towards Essaouira It is the coastal wind – the beautifully named alizee. Via Agadir the destiny of interest , where you will enjoy lunch in front of the charming  sea-side of Agadir where you will take a walk on the promenade.

Next, we will continue towards Essaouira, passing by the rare Argan trees area, where you can enjoy watching herds of goats climbing the Argan trees.

Eventually, you will spend the night in a beautiful Riad in the heart of the Medina Exploring Essaouira

Day 11: Essaouira (Explore Essaouira at your own pace)

 

After a traditional breakfast in the Riad, you are going to start exploring the great historical sides of Essaouira, starting by Scala the kasbah the copy of the french coastal town saint-Malo,build by the French architecture “Théodore Cornut”. Next you are going to walk through the old Medina and enjoy the rich handicraft products that the city provide, Also the Jewish headquarter, and the antique traditional colored houses in the Medina.

And of course, you can’t leave Essaouira without enjoying there special fish dishes, you are going to enjoy lunch in front of the spectacular port.

The afternoon is going to be free for you to take a walk  and explore the city by yourself.

Overnight in the Riad

Day 12: Essaouira – Marrakech

 

After breakfast in the Riad,  we are going to continue towards our next destination,  but before that on the way since we are in an area of the rare Argan we are going to visit some of the co-operations of Argan  where they extract the oil, which famous for his cosmetic and medical properties.

Arriving To Marrakech where you are going to check up on the Riad,  restoring and having dinner. Then enjoying the ambiance of the Plaza of jamaa El fna by night, where snake charmers, fortune tellers, musicians, are going to compete for your attention.

Day 13: Marrakesh

In Marrakech we offer you a day dedicated for exploring this wonderful, historical city. Since the red city is an interesting home for mosques, palaces and gardens; we will start our tour by visiting the majestic mosque of El Koutoubia, the largest mosque in Marrakech, It is also known by the name mosque of booksellers. Next we will visit the charming Bahia Qsar, it is a Palace and a set of gardens. Was built in the late 19th century, and it is intended to be the greatest palace of its time. Thereupon we will move towards the artistic and, most visited place in Marrakech, the Majorelle gardens. A well designed villa with a two and ald acre botonical garden, created by the greatest Jacque Majorelle between the 1923s and 1930s. After a quiet stay we will explore the Sidi Said museum of Jewellery. Lunch will be in a restaurant at the ancent medina, where you will savor a Marrakchi special dish called “Tanjiya” before continuing our tour. Subsequently, conclude the day in front of the charming Plaza of Jamaa Lefna, enjoying the unique ambiance of the place while relaxing in a cafe.

Day 14: Marrakesh – Explore Marrakesh
