Fez To Chefchaouen:
Today we have the entire day to discover Chefchaouen, a city in the Rif mountains known for its striking blue-washed buildings on the walls of its old Medina, (There are several theories as to why the walls were painted blue.
One popular theory is that the blue keeps mosquitoes away, another is that Jews introduced the blue when they took refuge from Hitler in the 1930 s. The blue is said to symbolize the sky and heaven, and serves as a reminder to lead a spiritual life)
We will walk the winding alleyways of the Medina, visit the leather and weaving shops that line the steep cobbled lanes and see the square of ‘Wtta-Hmam’ red-walled Kasbah. Later, we will enjoy lunch in one of the many local authentic restaurants located in the main square. This Kasbah was built in the 14th century by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa to fight off the Portuguese. The main square is filled to the brim with locals and tourists. We will head back to your hotel at 5 PM.
