We begin our day with breakfast and then depart for Ifran, known as the Switzerland of Morocco. We continue our drive ,winding through the Middle Atlas Mountains to arrive at the Cedar Forest, home of the Macaque monkeys. You can take pictures and feed these friendly monkeys before we get back on the road, driving through the beautiful mountain landscapes until we arrive in Medelt for lunch. We continue  along the Ziz Valley, a long, beautiful valley, surrounded by palm trees, passing Berbere villages, to finally arrive at your hotel in Erg Chebbi, the largest sand dune in the Sahara.

Day 2:  Hassi Labyad-Merzouga-Khamlia-Tamradanite

Today, we have an exciting adventure, driving across the dunes, very close to the Algerian-Morocco border. You’ll have the opportunity to meet Berbere families living in tents and you’ll have the chance to meet them and  to learn about their culture.  We visit the small Berbere villages of Tamrdanite and M’fis, to see a still functioning mineral mine.

Continuing our trip, we will reach Khamlia, a remote village, home for merely 32 families.  Khamlia is famous for Gnawa music, which is played on  ancient instruments, giving you a chance to see (and hear)  yet another aspect of Moroccan culture , that of the Khamlia people. For lunch,

we dine in a local restaurant known around the world for its delicious Berbere pizza. We continue to your hotel to prepare for an amazing camel ride toward the desert camp, stopping to revel in the desert sunset.  Overnight, you will stay in the desert camp, enjoying dinner and local music, before retiring in a unique Nomad tent or under the starry skies. (your choice, of course!)
