Morocco Sahara Desert Group tour Itinerary

  • Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley
  • Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga Sahara Desert
  • Day 3: Option to return to Marrakech or continue to Fes

This itinerary is based on our Marrakech to Fes group tour. We also offer the same Sahara Desert experience in reverse (Fes to Marrakech) as well as round-trip options from Marrakech. The route and highlights remain the same, with only the starting and ending cities changing.

Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Depart from Marrakech and cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka in the High Atlas Mountains. Visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. Continue through Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara, before arriving in the beautiful Dades Valley for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga Sahara Desert

After breakfast, travel through the impressive Dades Valley before visiting the dramatic Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural canyons. Continue through traditional Berber villages and the oasis town of Erfoud before arriving in Merzouga. Ride a camel across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes and witness an unforgettable Sahara Desert sunset. Spend the evening at a luxury desert camp, enjoying traditional Moroccan cuisine, Berber music, and a night beneath the stars.

Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

(or return to Marrakech)

Wake early to admire the sunrise over the Sahara before breakfast. Depending on your chosen route, continue toward Fes through the Ziz Valley, Midelt, the Cedar Forest, and the charming town of Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Alternatively, travelers choosing the round-trip option return to Marrakech, enjoying different landscapes and scenic stops along the journey.
